We here in the United States can count ourselves lucky to live in a country so rich in freedoms.  Thankful; that so many fine people, would risk their lives to protect all of us from harm.  Our service men and women; one and all, have given a part of themselves to all who live in this great nation.  Many have had thier bodies broken and others given their most precious of gifts...Life.
Those Americans who have experienced military service in past conflicts know what these brave individuals are asked to do.  The families of all these brave people know first hand what is being asked of them.  Each and every day; more and more heroes set aside all they hold dear placing themselves in harms way.  They silently march off to war....two, three and even four times.  Their loved ones are left behind to carry on as best they can.
There are many ways we here at home can ease the burden of the troops and their families.  The USO has some great programs that provide some peace of mind through phone cards and bits of physical comfort in the form of small gift packages.  You can help a family coping with a tight budget by giving a giftcard toward groceries at a commissary or supermarket.  There are some wonderful organizations helping returning veterans with disabilities.
Please visit the websites listed above and do what you can.  Among the sites listed are a couple of tributes that will stir your soul and warm your heart.  Those with young children will enjoy this one http://www.letssaythanks.com.   Xerox will send free post cards to our service men and women as a thank you for all they are doing.  They were drawn by young kids from all over the country; you just add your message and off it goes.

ALL WARS END AND ARE TOO SOON FORGOTTEN ... NOT SO FOR THOSE ASKED TO SERVE

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE
